Donate Now Education is a Lifeline for Children in Crises For children in emergencies, education is about more than the right to learn. When children are educated, entire communities benefit. Schools protect children from the physical dangers around them – including abuse and exploitation. They provide lifesaving food, water, health care and hygiene supplies. These safe spaces also offer psychosocial support, giving children stability and structure to help them cope with the trauma they experience daily. Parents and children affected by crises consistently cite education as a top priority. Providing access to education can help secure a more promising future of some of the most marginalized segements of society. Education Funding Needs For Children in Emergencies Currently, only 2.6% of humanitarian funds go to education. This stands in stark contrast to the learning needs of children during and in the aftermath of conflict and emergencies. Education for children is severely underfunded and under-resourced. Whether they be a migrant, refugee or internally displaced, a child is a child. And every child has the right to an education. Without an education, how will they gain knowledge and skills to rebuild their lives? How will they be able to chart a path to a more peaceful and prosperous future for themselves, their families, their communities and the world? Their current circumstance should no dictate their future. Education support provides the essential tools and motivation needs to tread the path of scholars and experts in any field these children choose.
