Giving Tuesday

A Global Generosity Movement

#ShareHope #HomeAwayFromHome

Helping Hand USA Has Joined the Movement

Helping Hand USA is responding to meet the needs of refugees and deprived families in Jordan through our Caravans of Hope and Restrooms campaign in Jordan and Bangladesh. We are harnessing the collective power of our donors and their communities to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1st, 2020, and throughout the year.

Millions Are At Risk Daily

Over 4.5 million Syrians refugees and 1 million Rohingya refugees have fled their countries due to internal conflict. Continuous humanitarian assistance is still required for these groups of people. There is immediate need for proper shelter, food, and medical assistance. Caravan homes and restrooms provide security and return dignity to families exposed to the elements. Your support will make a lasting difference in countless lives. This Giving Tuesday we wish to provide these families a "home away from home" while they wait for a safe return.

Caravans of Hope: A Home Away from Home

Caravan Homes in Za’atri Camp: $4,000           Caravan Home in Desert: $5,000

Many Syrian refugees are having to live in unbearably harsh conditions – being forced not only to seek refuge in foreign lands, but also having to live in makeshift tents. Caravan shelter homes offer a great amount of relief, giving them a safer and more viable place to call home until they can return to their respective homelands. Each caravan includes two rooms, a small kitchen, running water, and a functional toilet. Generations are being raised in an environment detrimental to their health and happiness. Providing a place to call home brings back security and dignity after years of unimaginable hardship.

Restoring Dignity and Security Through Restroom Provision

One Unit in Jordan: $2,000                    5 Units in Bangladesh: $4,500

Today, 892 million people still practice open defecation. The exposure to human feces on this scale has a devastating impact on public health, living conditions, nutrition, education and economic productivity across the world. Hygienic toilets protect people from disease, supports education and employment, both of which are the foundation of alleviating poverty. Roughly 2.3 billion people lack access to basic sanitation and as a result, 800 children, under 5 years of age, perish annually from waterborne diseases. Water is essentail to saving life; let's give our best to ensure their safety.

  • Despite the dangers of living in tents these refugee children continue to share their beautiful smiles
  • They surround their new home as HHRD MENA teams make a delivery on our donor's behalf
  • The excitement is contagious as this little boy enters his new home
  • The official tour is underway and safety devices are pointed out
  • Their smiles say it all; running water will make life easier
  • HHRD MENA team member shares other services in the home

What is #GivingTuesday?

Entering its 8th year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. #GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.
